The Da Nang - Quang Ngai highway is one of the key national projects approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2010 and approved by the December 2014 decision. It is expected that when completed, this highway will shorten travel time between localities, opening up investment opportunities as well as connecting international transportation of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia economic triangle. In addition, the route will help ensure smooth traffic and emergency relief for people in areas frequently flooded.
According to the design, the highway is 139km long, the first point is the town of Tuy Loan (Hoa Vang, Da Nang), the last point in Nghia Ky (Tu Nghia, Quang Ngai). The roadbed is 26m wide, with 24.5m of road surface, including 4 lanes (2 emergency stops). The finishing stage will be 6 lanes with a speed of 120km / h.
The 540m tunnel project (in Hoa Vang, Da Nang) is designed as two separate tunnels between the departure and arrival directions; 102 large bridges with a length of nearly 9km; 9 intersections, drainage system ... Total investment project is nearly 28,000 billion.
This is the first expressway project in the Central Region, which is owned by VEC, the North-South Expressway section of the East, as part of the development plan for Vietnam's expressway network up to 2020. And orientation to 2030.
The project started on May 19, 2013, passing through the provinces / cities: Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. It is expected that when completed and commissioned, this high-speed route will promote socio-economic development in the Central region, contributing to international transportation links in the region, opening up greater investment opportunities. . Through this high speed, cargo through Tien Sa, Lien Chieu (Da Nang), Ky Ha (Quang Nam), Dung Quat (Quang Ngai) ports are transported smoothly, quickly and efficiently.
The 65km section of the highway was put into operation according to the A-class highway standard, designed at a speed of 120km / h (particularly difficult to allow for maximum speed of 100km / h); The scale of the first stage is 4 lanes, the width of the roadbed is 24.25m, the width of the road surface is 22.25m. Particularly, the section linking with National Highway 1A will follow the standard of grade 3 delta road, the road bed width of 12m, the design speed of 80km / h.
The highlight on this section of the tunnel is the tunnel through Mt Eo (Km22 + 485 - Km23 + 041), belonging to Package 4, designed and constructed following the new tunneling method of Austria (NATM). Tunnel consists of 2 single tunnels: Tunnel north to 556m length, tunnel south to 515m. Road tunnel design speed 120km / h, road width 12m.
According to the representative of VEC, after more than 4 years of construction, at present, the 65km section of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway construction project is basically completed, ensuring the required traffic to be put into operation. toothpick.
