Vantai24h – Date 01/27/2016 – Before snowy winter days, Transport 24h Co.Ltd together with HSC’s the charity club ‘Sharing Love’ had shipped winter clothes, warm blankets and other practical items to residents living in mountainous areas of Chieng Bom Commune, Thuan Chau District, Son La Province.
The total distance from Hanoi to Son La is more than 200 kilometers with dangerously mountainous terrain, making it longer to reach the final destination than expected. From Highway 6, at 5pm the truck for this journey got to the loading location safely.
The weather was getting colder with continuous rain all the night but every time we thought about local people who were suffering from deep chill without basic living conditions, all team members hoped the morning would come soon to bring clothes, blankets to residents here. Even though it was becoming worse with heavy rain, we all felt very excited. The final destination was at Chieng Bom Commune, Thuan Chau District which was 50 km away from Son La. It took us nearly 2 hours to get to the main location. Fortunately, right after that it stopped raining so the charity program was held more conveniently than expected.
In the distance, we had to ask local people for the directions to arrive exactly at the destination. Seeing black shadows of human, we stopped by and knew that local people who had heard the news of charity group gathered to welcome us. Through the truck window, seeing children playing around with their bare feet in the bitter cold, the feeling of sympathy and pain surged through me. In mountainous areas, there were no essential things like shoes, coats or socks but poor people still had to sustain their lives through winter. Located on the mountain ridge, houses were made simply from bamboo sheets assembled together. All their important properties included kitchen appliances and clothes which were not enough to keep warm daily. However, from today, the cold will be alleviated thanks to the warmth of love, blankets or jackets. This year local people may have full Tet when receiving practical foods such as rice, salt, sticky rice cake, instant noodles, milk, sweets as well as other household appliances.
Tuyet Mai, a member of the charity group said: “The feeling I have when seeing local children running around in warm clothes with sweets and books in their hands is very special to me. I also remember the image of a one year old infant who was carried on his mother’s back and kissed a handmade toy. This experience was so invaluable and unforgettable that nothing can be exchanged for”.
On each corner of Vietnam, there are still people with deprived and impoverished backgrounds. They really need the support, sympathy and encouragement from the public to provide mountainous residents with more strength to continue their lives. It is not only for the future of their children but also for the prosperity of the country./.
