1. Start sanctioning according to the new traffic organization plan on the Cau Giay - Cao Bo highway
From October 20, 2026, the Traffic Police Department officially sanctioned violations according to the new traffic organization plan on the Cau Gie - Cao Bo expressway after the propaganda period from October 14-19. Notable points include:
* Lane close to the divider (lane 1) is a high-speed lane, with a speed regulation of 80–100 km/h.
* Passenger cars with more than 29 seats and trucks with more than 7.5 tons are not allowed to travel continuously in lane 1, only used to overtake vehicles.
* Vehicles that do not reach the minimum speed must circulate in the right lane.
The adjustment aims to improve traffic capacity and reduce the situation of slow-moving vehicles occupying the overtaking lane on the highway.
2. Highways across the country urgently add safe distance signs
The Vietnam Department of Roads requires expressway management units to complete the review and additional installation of signs and road markings guiding safe distance before October 31, 2026.
Priority routes for deployment include:
* Hanoi - Hai Phong.
* Phap Van - Cau Gie.
* HCMC - Trung Luong.
* Trung Luong - My Thuan.
* Hai Phong - Mong Cai.
* Dien Chau - Bai Vot.
* My Thuan - Can Tho.
The installation will be based on actual exploitation conditions, avoiding arrangement in inappropriate locations such as curves, large slopes or areas with frequent traffic jams.
3. Reviewing the plan to organize traffic connecting Long Thanh airport
The Vietnam Department of Roads requires expressway management units in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai to re-evaluate the traffic organization plan to ensure a smooth connection with Long Thanh International Airport.
At the same time, relevant units are required to speed up the completion of Tan Hiep interchange and promptly propose to adjust the traffic organization plan if inadequacies arise during the exploitation process.
4. Continue to emphasize speed control and keep distance on the highway
The Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Department of Roads continue to request:
* Enhanced speed control.
* Raise the awareness of keeping a safe distance between vehicles.
* Complete the signboard system and driver's instructions on highways.
According to the assessment of the management agency, although traffic accidents have decreased on many criteria, continuous collisions on highways are still potentially at risk if the driver does not comply with the safety distance.
Recommendations for traffic participants
* When driving on Cau Gie - Cao Bo expressway, it is necessary to know the new regulations on lanes and speed because the functional forces have started to sanction from October 20.
* Always keep a safe distance according to signs and road markings, especially in rainy conditions or heavy traffic.
* Only use the overtaking lane for the right purpose, do not run for a long time in the leftmost lane if it is not the allowed object.
* Monitor traffic information before long trips to choose a suitable route, especially on highways that are adjusting traffic organization plans.
