Road transport is the lifeblood of the economy, playing an important role in connecting regions and promoting socio-economic development. On March 12, 2025, many notable events took place in this field, from traffic accidents, progress of infrastructure projects, to new management policies. Below is a summary of the most prominent news.
On March 12, 2025, the road transport sector in Vietnam recorded many important events. Although the traffic accident situation is still complicated, with the attention and close direction from leaders at all levels, along with the implementation of important transport infrastructure projects, our country's transport system is having positive changes.

Promoting the development of logistics infrastructure, strictly controlling transport policies and strengthening environmental protection measures are priorities in the coming time. With synchronous solutions, it is hoped that the road transport system in Vietnam will become more modern, safe and sustainable.
1. Traffic accident situation on March 12, 2025
1.1. Some serious accidents
A man riding a motorbike fell on the road and was run over by a truck and died:
On the afternoon of March 11, on Provincial Road 769, through Binh Son Commune, Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, a man driving a motorbike suddenly fell on the road and was run over by a truck in the same direction and died on the spot. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the authorities.

A tractor-trailer and a motorbike crossed lanes when entering a curve, and a young man died on the spot:
At 1:20 p.m. on March 11, at Km 91+350 on National Highway 279 in Ben Village, Cam Son Commune, Luc Ngan District, Bac Giang Province, an accident occurred between a tractor-trailer and a motorbike. The preliminary cause was determined to be due to the curve, both vehicles encroached on the lane and could not control their speed, leading to a strong collision that killed the young man driving the motorbike on the spot.

2. Progress of key traffic infrastructure projects
2.1. An Phu Intersection (HCMC)
Checking progress and site clearance:
On March 12, Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc inspected the construction progress of the An Phu Intersection project in Thu Duc City. The project has a total investment of VND 3,400 billion, and is expected to open to traffic two tunnel branches connecting the HCMC - Long Thanh Expressway and Giong Ong To Street on the occasion of the April 30 holiday. However, some sections are still stuck with site clearance, causing difficulties for the construction progress. The Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee has requested relevant units to quickly resolve the problems to ensure the project's progress.
2.2. Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway
Urgently complete site clearance:
The Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway project, 60 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 11,000 billion, started construction in April 2024. Up to now, Lang Son province has handed over 76.35% of the site area (447.09/557.82 ha), of which 410.51 ha are eligible for construction. However, some areas are still facing problems due to overlapping of the area paid since 2018 with the new addition. The authorities are working hard to resolve this to ensure project progress.

3. Logistics infrastructure development
3.1. Logistics Center in Chu Lai, Quang Nam
Expanding international maritime connections:
By the end of 2025, Truong Hai International Transport and Logistics Joint Stock Company (THILOGI) will put into operation 2 container ships with a total capacity of 3,600 TEU, exploiting the international maritime route from Chu Lai to the ports of Xiamen and Shanghai (China). At the same time, THILOGI will expand cooperation with major shipping lines to connect goods to Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and other markets, contributing to improving the logistics capacity of the Central region.
4. New policies and regulations in the transport sector
4.1. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in transport
Challenges and solutions:
The transport sector accounts for about 7.2% of the greenhouse gas emissions of the entire Vietnamese economy, most of which are due to road transport. The growth of the middle class has been increasing car sales with an average compound growth rate of up to 15% in the period 2010–2022, among the highest in the region. To reduce emissions from transportation, the Government is studying and applying policies to encourage the use of public transport, electric vehicles, and sustainable green infrastructure development.
5. Traffic situation in Hanoi during rush hour on the morning of March 12, 2025
On the morning of March 12, the traffic situation in Hanoi during rush hour was updated via the camera surveillance system. Many routes such as Giai Phong, Nguyen Trai, Pham Van Dong, and Tran Duy Hung recorded high traffic density but no serious congestion. People are advised to choose alternative routes to avoid traffic hotspots.
