It takes at least 3 days to transport goods from Hanoi to My Tho City, Tien Giang Province on Route 1A if there are two drivers in the cabin. After reaching Trung Luong Interchange, My Tho, Tien Giang , trucks turn into Highway 60 to dispatch goods to Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and the final destination of Soc Trang (Soc Trang Province). The length of Highway 60 is about 115 km. Compared to Route 1A and Highway 53, if moving on Highway 60, the route will be reduced by about 60 km and 130 km respectively.

To transport goods from Tien Giang to Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang on Highway 60, drivers will go through districts, cities and provinces as follows:

-         My Tho City, Tien Giang Province

-         Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre City, Mo Cay District, Ben Tre Province

-         Tieu Can Town, Cang Long District, Tra Vinh Province

-          Long Phu District, Soc Trang City, Soc Trang Province

Highway 60 crosses Rach Mieu Bridge, Ham Luong Bridge; Co Chien Bridge; Mo Cay Bridge and Co Chien Ferry; Cau Quan Ferry and Đai Ngai Ferry.

To stimulate the development of traffic infrastructure and create favorable conditions for the operation of logistics firms, in the early 2016 the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation started upgrading the section of Highway 60 from Rach Mieu Bridge to Co Chien Bridge with the length of 23 km to meet the rising demand of traffic and transportation. When being in use, Rach Mieu Bridge will charge tolls to offset the upgrading cost.

In addition, the project of Dai Ngai Bridge is underway and expected to finish and used in 2018, partly contributing to an decrease in the number of vehicles moving on Dai Ngai Ferry, and help local people to travel from An Thach Nhuc Commune (Cu Lao Dung District) to Dai Ngai Commune (Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province) faster and more conveniently.

After the completion of two following projects, Highway 60 will be smooth and flat to ensure the safety for people and vehicles running on this route. However, 22 km of Highway 60 going through Ben Tre Province is deteriorating and threaten the traffic safety. In future, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation and the authority of Ben Tre Province will make a renovation plan for this section. Due to its importance in traffic system of Cuu Long Delta River, the volume of vehicles moving from HCMC to the West region on Highway 60 will increase rapidly. It means that services of logistics firms will also rise to meet the high demand of the market and customers.
