To transport goods to two abovementioned destinations, trucks will first ship goods from HCM City to Vung Tau and then to Hanoi. National Route 1A is the main one in the north-south transport system.
Besides, Highway 51 is also a main road connecting Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province) to Vung Tau City (Ba Ria- Vung Tau Province). It runs through Long Thanh District (Dong Nai Province) and Tan Thanh District (Ba Ria Vung Tau Province). A large number of drivers choose Route 1A or HCM City- Long Thanh- Dau Giay Expressway to transport goods from HCM City to Vung Tau.
On Route 1A, after passing Dong Nai Bridge, drivers will get to a roundabout (at Vung Tau intersection). Next, you turn right on Highway 51 and go further 100 km to reach Vung Tau City.
Although HCM City- Long Thanh- Dau Giay Expressway is very convenient and smooth for drivers to move, the road leading to the expressway is rather complicated. Therefore, if you are not familiar with the route, it is highly recommended to gather the local traffic information in order not to get lost. After joining the expressway, drivers go straight to the bend leading to Highway 51 to get to Vung Tau.
According to veteran drivers, it is highly necessary to comply with the speed regulations which are shown to traffic signs. Here are speed notices for drivers to take:
- - After finishing the expressway, you can drive at the speed of 80 km/h.
- - From the residential area of Phu My, the allowed speed is from 60 to 70 km/h.
- - In Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, the allowed speed is also from 60 to 70 km/h.
- - After crossing Co May Bridge, there is a 1 km section on which you can only drive at the speed of 60 km/h. If you run to Long Thanh from Bien Hoa City, the allowed speed is 50 km/h.
With the role of the main traffic route, it is expected that the Bien Hoa –Phu My Section of Highway 51 may face the heavy congestion and enforce speed limits at some temporary points in the future. The Phu My- Vung Tau Section is predicted to have 62000 turns per day, causing traffic jams in 2030. To curb this situation, many new roads linking with Highway 51 are built and put into use such as Road 991 leading from Highway 51 to Cai Mep Port (Ba Ria Vung Tau Province), the Vung Tau Tunnel Project and so forth. The south’s key economic zone will develop strongly in the future so transport journeys from HCMC to Dong Nai, Ba Ria- Vung Tau and Hanoi will also increase.
