Situated in the center of Vietnam, Thanh Hoa is one of five largest provinces in the country. With more than 100 km coastal lines, Thanh Hoa is also a part of the northern economic zone. It has a number of economic potentials and advantages for tourism. Thanks to the ideal location on many main traffic routes such as National Route 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, Thanh Hoa has developed more quickly than other provinces in the country. Its traffic system includes road, trail, air and sea transport. The province has 6 main traffic routes running through, namely Route 1A, Highway 10, Highway 15, Highway 45, Highway 47, Highway 217 and Ho Chi Minh Road..
To transport goods from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa by 3.5 ton trucks, drivers have two options to choose: Route 1A or Ho Chi Minh Road, both of which have become familiar with experienced ones. National Route 1A is the shortest and most time-saving for drivers but it is only suitable for delivery in Thanh Hoa City and in districts Route 1A runs through. In constrast, if final destinations are at Lam Son Industrial Zone or near Tho Xuan Airport (Tho Xuan District), you should choose Ho Chi Minh Road.
To ship goods from Hanoi to Tho Xuan and Sam Son Town, drivers will go on Ho Chi Minh Road and Highway 47. Highway 47 is the provincial route in Thanh Hoa Province with the total length of over 60 km. Connecting Sam Son Town and Tho Xuan District, Highway 47 runs through following areas: Thanh Hoa City, Sam Son Town, Quang Xuong District, Dong Son, Trieu Son, Tho Xuan. From Hanoi, drivers follow Ho Chi Minh Road to reach Cam Thuy District, then continue going through Vinh Loc- Yen Dinh- Dong Son District to get to Thanh Hoa City. On the way to the city center, there is sign of Highway 47 leading to Sam Son Town. Driver Dinh Nam Thanh said: “Young drivers should keep low speed when going from the city to Sam Son because local peole usually drive recklessly. Due to the high quality of road surface, it is very smooth to run on Highway 47 but the 20 km section from the city is quite narrow”.
Driver Pham Hoai Thanh also said: “Young drivers should go at 50 km/h when running through Mieu Mon and 40 km/h in Hoa Binh to stay away from the police. Remember to go on the right lane for your vehicles on the section from the city to Ho Chi Minh Road.
Highway 47 plays an important role in connecting and stimulating the economic development of Thanh Hoa Province. Due to the increasing number of vehicles running on this route, Highway 47 cannot meet people’s demand for transportation and has negative impact on traffic safety. Therefore, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation will upgrade and renovate the 30 km section running through Thanh Hoa City, Dong Son, Trieu Son and Tho Son Districts in the future. After the renovation, the quality and quantity of goods transport services from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa will increase to meet the transportation needs of the market, contributing to raising customers’ benefits and logistics firms’ profits.
