There are a rising number of medium and small industrial zones in Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa Province, so two provinces’ economies are also developing quickly to adapt with the government’s policy on changing economic structure and improve local people’s standard of living. In addition, it also stimulates business exchanges and activities between two provinces with the rest of the country. Highway 45 is a main traffic route connecting the provinces of Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh. The S- shaped route intersects with Highway 12B in Ria (Phu Loc Commune, Nho Quan, Ninh Binh), which is also the starting point of Highway 45. It ends at Nhu Xuan Intersection (Yen Cat Town, Nhu Xuan, Thanh Hoa) with the total length of 130 km. However, drivers share experiences of alternative routes to reduce the distance to 100 km. Dong Van Trinh said: “ If you start from Pho Ria on Highway 12B to Tam Diep, then follow Route 1A to Thanh Hoa City. After that, you turn into Highway 45 to reach the final destination of Yen Cat Town”. Driver Hoang Van Hung also said: “A shorter route of about 100 km is to go along Road 506, then turn into Ho Chi Minh Road to Yen Cat Town”.

In the future, Highway 45 will be renovated and upgraded into the expressway with the total length of nearly 110 km from Mai Son, Ninh Binh to Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa. The route will be built under the expressway standard of level A with 6 lanes and the average speed of 120 km/h. It is hoped that the traffic in the provinces of Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa will develop strongly to meet the transport demands of local people and logistics firms../.
