Vantai24h – Date 03/16/2016 – Highway 30 is currently being upgraded and renovated. It is expected that when the project finishes, goods transportation from Tien Giang to Dong Thap will become more convenient and faster.
Highway 30 is a main traffic route running north westward and connecting two provinces of Tien Giang and Dong Thap. It also links the important routes such as National Route 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road and so forth. It is 120 km long and runs along Tien River. To ship consignments from An Huu, Tien Giang to Cao Lanh, Dong Thap on the Highway 30, drivers run along National Route 1A to the intersection of An Huu (An Thai Trung), Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province, then turn to Highway 30. Continue driving along this route, you will reach Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province. Highway 30 runs through the districts, namely Thanh Binh, Tam Nong, Hong Ngu (in Dong Thap Province) and ends at Dinh Ba Border gate, Tan Ho Co Commune, Tan Hong District. This is the international border gate between Vietnam and Cambodia. Highway 30 connects 49 bridges including two longest ones of Can Lo (Cao Lanh District) and Hong Ngu- Long An (Hong Ngu Town).
Ha Van Toan, who specializes in transporting goods in southern areas of Vietnam said: “ If shipping goods from Ho Chi Minh City to Cao Lanh, Dong Thap, drivers like me often choose one of the two routes. No matter which route we choose, we must run through Highway 30”.
The first route: from the inner city of Ho Chi Minh to the overpass of Binh Thuan, Tan Tuc Town, Binh Chanh. Next, you follow National Route 1A to reach My Yen, Vinh Loc, then pass Ben Luc Bridge. From there, go further 14 km to arrive in Tan An City, Long An. After Tan An, you reach My Tho City, Tien Giang. Then, turn right into National Route 1A and go further 55 km to An Huu Intersection. After that, turn right into Highway 30 and go another 30 km to reach Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap. Therefore, the total length of this route is about 135 km.
The second route: from the inner city, drivers also run toward Binh Chanh District to reach Binh Thuan Overpass. Then, go straight into Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway. After going about 50 km, drivers turn right into Highway 1A; then go further 5 km to get to My Tho City, Tien Giang. From there, continue running along Route 1 to reach Cao Lanh, Dong Thap.
From abovementioned information, it is not difficult to realize the importance of Highway 30. This route links not only Tien Giang and Dong Thap Provinces but also the key economic zones of Mekong River Delta – Southeast Region – Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the Ministry of Traffi and Transportation initiated the project of upgrading and broadening Highway 30 (the section from Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province to Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province). After being renovated, Highway 30 will meet the road standard of level III with 4 lanes and the average speed of 60 to 80 km/h. Besides, it will take about 20 years to repay capital costs by charging tolls. The project is expected to complete at the end of 2016./.
