Vantai24h – Date 03//2016 - To transport goods from Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan Province) through Lam Ha (Lam Dong Province) to Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak Province), drivers must run through Ngoan Muc Pass- the most dangerous route in the southern Vietnam.

Ngoan Muc Pass or Song Pha Pass is not only a dangerous but also very beautiful routes in Vietnam due to the large number of curves along this route. All curves have potential risks so that drivers must pay careful attention when going along this route. With the slope of 9 degree and the average altitude of 200 to 980 m, Ngoan Muc Pass has been the most sloping one in southern provinces. People driving trucks of over 10 tons to run across this pass must be very careful to ensure the safety for their journey. Before Highway 27 was upgraded and renovated, it had been very difficult and challenging to travel along Ngoan Muc Pass. Even in the period of 2008 and 2013, many drivers transporting food products between Phan Rang and Da Lat had to find an alternative road to go. Since then, the number of vehicles on this route decreased significantly.
As of 2014, Ngoan Muc Pass has taken back its beautiful appearance with the wide, smooth roads. This is a main traffic route which connects Ninh Thuan, Lam Dong Provinces, and Central Highlands and middle coastal provinces. It also links the tourism triangle of Lam Dong- Ninh Thuan- Khanh Hoa.
Ngoan Muc Pass connects Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan Province) with Da Lat Province. Nearly 19 km of this route is a part of Highway 27 so Ngoan Muc Pass is also one of main routes linking National Route 1A and Central Highlands. From the east to west, Highway 27 bridges the provinces, namely Ninh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dak Lak with Phan Rang- Thap Cham City (Ninh Thuan Province). Running 120 km to the west from Ngoan Muc Pass, drivers will reach Lien Khuong Town, Duc Trong (Lam Dong Province). From there, continue going towards the northwest, you will get to Lam Ha, Dam Rong (Lam Dong) and Lak, Krong An (Dak Lak Province). Highway 27 ends in Buon Ma Thuot City.
To stimulate the economic development of provinces Highway 27 runs through, 4 bridges connecting provincial routes with Highway 27 was completed and put into use. The bridge of number 3,4,6 and 7 on the route of Lien Hung – Dam Ron (Dam rong District) was upgraded and repaired with the capacity of 30 tons. The construction of these bridges has contributed to the progress in economy, tourism and the improvements in local people’s standard of living in Dam Rong. Moreover, they also connect Dam Rong District with Highway 27, making it convenient for business activities and travel./.
