Vantai24h – Date 03/04/2016 – There are many routes for shipping goods from Hanoi to Phu Yen and Gia Lai such as National Route 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, Highway 25 and so forth. However, Highway 25 is currently being upgraded and renovated so many drivers do not choose it for their transport journey.
Highway 25 is 181 km long, starting from Hoa An Commune, Phu Hoa District, Phu Yen Province and finishing at Chu Se Town. This is one of the main transport routes not only between the South Central Coast and Central Highlands but also connecting north eastern provinces of Cambodia, southern Laos and Central Highlands and the South Central Coast and ports.
According to local residents living along two sides of the Highway, Highway 25 was constructed in the early twentieth century by French people. When times goes by, due to the significantly growing volume of traffic means, the quality of Highway 25 has gradually deteriorated, leading to difficulties in joining traffic for local people and potential risks for vehicles. Compared to Highway 19 (from Pleiku to Quy Nhon City and vice verse), Highway 25 today seems not to be a favorable route with many drivers when they transport goods from Phu Yen to Gia Lai. Pham Hoai Thanh, a driver who has ran along Highway 25 since 2000 said: “ Many sections of this Highway are badly damaged, such as the section from Chu Se Town (Chu Se District, Gia Lai Province) to Chu Se Pass (H’Bong Commune, Chu Se District) with many holes and potholes on the road surface, making it hard for vehicles to move. The situation gets worse when it rains heavily so drivers will consume much time to keep away from potholes. The section which is most dangerous with drivers, especially young ones is between Phu Thien District and Ayaun Pa Town. Trucks passing this road will be covered with dust and mud. The section from To Na Pass to Krong Pa District was repaired and broadened some years ago but today the road quality is also reducing.
After throughout considerations, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation has decided to upgrade and renovate this Highway. The upgrade project has the investment of over 1,389 million VND from governmental bonds. The project will be implemented in two provinces of Phu Yen and Gia Lai with the total length of 88.12 km and be divided in two sections including Km 21+600 to Km99+432 and Km113 to Km 123. After construction, Highway 25 will meet the road standard of level III with the road surface of 9m and the speed of 60 km/h. In the future, authorities will stimulate implementing the project so that when the new Highway is put into use, it will partly support the economic and societal development of provinces and cities Highway 25 runs through./.
