With the total length of over 230 km, the road system is from Da Lat City (Lam Dong Province) to the intersection of Dau Giay (Dau Giay Town, Thong Nhat District, Dong Nai Province). This road has appeared on the map of Vietnam since 1973 and is one of many roads going through passes such as Bao Loc and Prenn. The road curves around forests of rubber and pine, tea hills, coffee hills with endless green and fresh air.
After having been used for 40 years, the quality of Route 20 considerably deteriorates, causing dangers in traffic and making it difficult for shipping goods from Dong Nai to Lam Dong. The fact has partly deterred Dong Nai and Lam Dong Province from the economic and social progress. To stimulate these two provinces’ economy to develop, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation has implemented the projects of renovating and upgrading Route 20. Moreover, the Ministry also invested in constructing the intersection of Dau Giay to curb traffic congestion and the alternative road to decrease the high volume of traffic entering the inner city of Bao Loc. On April 28th 2015, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation, and the authorities of Dong Nai and Lam Dong Province celebrated the completion of the project of renovating and upgrading Route 20 (the section from Dau Giay, Dong Nai Province to Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province). The new road has been put into use since then with the total length of 110 km. This route has four bridges including La Nga Bridge, Dinh Quan District, Dong Nai Province with the length of 330m.
The renovation and upgrade of Route 20 means the economic and social development of provinces and cities in the area is fostered and the living standard of residents living in Dong Nai and Lam Dong Province is also improved significantly. In addition, this route connects the southern key economic zone and Central Highlands. Moreover, it also shortens sharply the time of travelling from Lam Dong and Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City
Route 20 is not only the main traffic road linking Dong Nai and Lam Dong but also the important route of commercial exchange between Dong Nai, Lam Dong and other provinces. It also plays a vital role in transporting goods from the north to south through Dong Nai and Lam Dong Province, creating the substantial development for Central Highlands’ aluminum industry and connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the key economic triangle and Central Highlands./.
