Vantai24h – Date 01/06/2016 – The government’s policy of economic integration has stimulated the significant development of the nation over the last decade. The volume and quality of trips transporting goods from and to border gates has increasingly high.
For the last few years, Transport 24h Co.Ltd has signed many transport contract from Hanoi to the international border gate of Lao Bao (Quang Tri Province). Due to the development of economy, demands for transportation also increase. The international border gate of Lao Bao includes the commercial and economic zone of Lao Bao, one of many important economic zones in Vietnam. This border gate (in Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province) is located near the border area of Vietnam and Laos.

Highway 9 is the main route for vehicles to transport goods from provinces and cities to Lao Bao Border Gate, which is 80 km away from Dong Ha Town. The highway runs eastwards from Cua Viet to Lao Bao Border Gate (Quang Tri Province) with the total length of 97 km. This is a section of Xuyen A Route (AH16) and one of main traffic roads of Quang Tri Province. It plays an important role in the development of economy, society, security and national defense of Quang Tri Province and the northern area of Central Vietnam. After Lao Bao Border Gater, Highway 9 joins Xuyen A Road AH16 connecting to Savannakhet Province of Laos.
Due to the large volume of goods transported through the border gate, heavy trucks with 3, 4 or 5 legs or containers, tractors are usually used. The high density of vehicles and high demands for transportation cause damages to road surfaces, making it necessary to upgrade and innovate. Moreover, to catch up with the economic progress, the system of traffic roads in Vietnam has recently upgraded and broadened, especially the section of Highway 1 to Dakrong. The Ministry of Traffic and Transportation decided to implement the project of broadening and upgrading Highway 9 (the section from Lao Bao International Border Gate to Cua Viet Port, Quang Tri Province) under the contract of BOT. The total length of upgrade road is 46.15 km, which including the sections from Cam Lo to Dakrong Town and from Dakrong to Khe Sang Town.
Highway 9 is one of the main vital routes of Quang Tri Province and the northern Central. Due to its position and importance, Highway 9 is under the Development Plan of Vietnam road transport traffic to 2020 and orientation to 2030 which the Prime Minister approved. In the following years, the investment project to upgrade and broaden Highway 9 (the section from Lao Bao Border Gate to Cua Viet Port will be carried out and put into use. This will create favorable conditions for firms and individuals to ship goods, develop domestic and international business activities, contributing to the sustainable development of the country./.
