Vantai24h – Date 12/14/2015 – Transporting goods from Hanoi to the north-western area by the national highway 2 will go through Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang Provinces with the total time of 1 to 2 days.
Trucks with small or medium sizes are particularly chosen to ship goods on the route from Hanoi to north western areas. If going from the capital to the center of provinces like: Vinh Yen City (Vinh Phuc), Viet Tri City (Phu Tho), Tuyen Quang City (Tuyen Quang), Ha Giang City (Ha Giang)…, drivers can use trucks of over 1.25 tons. However, to transport goods to mountainous areas, the best vehicles to use are trucks with small sizes of 1.25 tons, 1.4 tons, 2.5 tons and 3.5 tons.
The total length of national highway 2 is 315 kilometers with two secondary roads including highways 2B and 2C. The main route of highway 2 starts from Hanoi and goes through Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang Provinces. Highway 2B which connects Vinh Yen Province and Tam Dao is located in Vinh Phuc Province. Highway 2C runs across Pho Day River, starting from Son Tay to Vinh Yen City and reaching Tuyen Quang. If drivers load goods in Long Bien District and transport to Vinh Phuc, the possible route is as follows: Dong Tru Bridge- Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue- Noi Bai Airport- Highway 2- Vinh Yen City.
With the aim to stimulate the economic growth of north western provinces, the government upgraded a part of Highway 2 going from Dong Hung (Phu Tho Province) to Vi Xuyen ( Ha Giang Province). Along this route, there are 26 bridges with the total length of over 1000 meters. The government invested nearly 500 million VND into this project.
National highway 2 has been considered as the sole road linking between Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and lowland areas and Hanoi capital for the long time. Provinces which Highway 2 goes through have seen the dramatic development in economy, culture and especially tourism in the last few years. Famous tourist attractions include Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc), Hung Temple (Phu Tho), historical relic of Tuyen Quang. Among these, Ha Giang Province has huge potential to develop tourism on national and international scale. Karst Plateau of Dong Van was recognized as the world’s geopark by UNESCO and has increasingly attracted local and foreign tourists. In addition, there is also the international border gate of Thanh Thuy. With an enormous number of vehicles going through this area, it is crucial to upgrade and expand highway 2. Being aware of the traffic demand, the authority of Ha Giang Provinces suggested the Department of Traffic and Transporting should consider investment in expanding the section of highway 2 from Km 286 to Km 287 + 120 with the expected expenses of 80 billion VND. The section from Ham Yen (Tuyen Quang) to Cau Me (Ha Giang City) is being upgraded and repaired the road surface.
The expanded traffic system will partly curb congestion to ensure the road safety and meet the growing transport demand of individuals, firms, resulting in the progress in economy and culture of north western provinces in particular and the country in general.
