Vantai24h – Date 10/10/2015 - All the transport routes including the route from Hanoi to Bac Giang always have potential risks which no driver can predict.

 

As a driver, unexpected situations which are out of my control usually occur. The simple thing of overtaking on the road also causes many problems which drivers need to know how to cope with to minimize all troubles. I received the order of shipping goods from Hanoi to Bac Giang three months ago. The loading point is on Linh Nam Street, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi and the destination is in Bac Giang City. In that day’s shipping journey, I witnessed a situation of overtaking on the road which was very dangerous.

The transport distance from Linh Nam, Hanoi to Bac Ninh City is about 35 kilometers. If choosing the highway of Hanoi – Lang Son, it will takes about one hour for one way transport After receiving the goods at Linh Nam, we started going to the highway of Hanoi- Lang Son. The road was big and beautiful enough for the truck to roll its wheel smoothly. On the way, my companion and I talked about the processes of working and shipping cargos and shared our experiences of how to handle situations on the road.

Driving 50 meters in front of us was a car and a coach. I saw the coach behind asking for overtake but the car showed the sign of refusal. After a few minute, I saw the truck turning on the light to overtake on the right. I knew they were breaking the rules but my companion Thu told me: “They must be in a rush so we let them overtake”. He started decreasing the speed and at the same time, the coach‘s driver overtook the car, which making it get close to the center divider. The car’s driver got surprised and stopped very abruptly but fortunately, the driver still could control the car. The distance between the two vehicles was only half of the human’s arm and the coach also overtook safely without any accidents. I guessed the coach’s driver had to be a veteran one so he could handle a dangerous situation like that. However, his awareness of traffic laws was very limited. Not only did he disregard his life but also coach passengers’ lives and people in the ca’s lives. This kind of situation often happens and can cause many bad consequences. Even witnesses like us also felt frightened but many drivers consider it interesting experience to train their driving skill and teach other drivers some lessons. However, it is obvious that this action is very hazardous and show the lack of traffic culture which many people need to improve. When our truck overtook the car to find out who drivers were, they were two girls. Maybe because of their poor driving skill, they did not create conditions for the coach to overtake.

This is a real situation many people may face to. There is a saying that the more you go, the cleverer you are”. In my opinion, each journey gives me a chance to accumulate my experience and driving skill. In addition, I can build and improve my skill of handling situations and culture of joining the traffic. Thanks to that, each journey will bring values for the company and the society in general and for me in particular./.
