Step 1: Choose the right oil for your engine. There are many types of car oil on the market nowadays, so drivers should consider carefully before deciding to choose the most suitable type of oil for their car.
Step 2: Prepare requisite tools. They include new oil, oil filter, car jack, funnel, socket wrench, gloves…
Step 3: Get ready before draining your oil. It is helpful to run your car for a minute or so to ensure that the oil in your car is warm so that it will flow out easier. Your car probably came with a jack of some kind and in most cases, this should be sufficient to lift your car and work underneath it. If your jack cannot raise your car enough to place the oil drain pan underneath it and still leave you enough room to work, find a jack that can. Once your car is up, you can begin draining the oil.
Step 4: Drain your oil. Place the oil drain pan beneath the plug in your car's oil pan. You should be able to locate a lone bolt called the drain plug. Make sure that the oil drain pan is directly underneath this plug and ready to catch all the oil as it comes out of your car before you move on. Once the oil starts flowing into the oil drain plan, it may take about two minutes to let your vehicle empty entirely.
Step 5: Refill your oil. This is an easy step but you should use a funnel to prevent oil from running outside.
Step 6: Check over your car. Once you've filled your car with oil, you can take it off the jacks and turn the engine on. Let it run a bit to cycle the oil through your system. After a few minutes, turn your car off and check your dipstick to ensure that the levels are where they need to be. If the oil level is between the two dots on the end, you're good to go.
The process of changing engine oil takes drivers only about one hour. It's a simple process that requires few tools, and it's a sure way to save some money or prepare your vehicle for future journeys to create great benefits for businesses and drivers.
