Vantai24h – Date 08/04/2015 - In July and August every year, the transport route from Hanoi to Quang Chau is full of longan. This kind of fruit appears only in summer and according to traditional experience, there are many severe floods in years of abundant harvest of longan.
Khoai Chau, a province of Hung Yen Province, is famous for its speciality of “lantern longan”. This is a kind of fruit which has sweet flavor and prevalent only in summer. According to traditional experience, there are many severe floods in years of abundant harvest of longan.
From the end of July 2015, a number of northern provinces suffered heavy rain, floods lasting around 7 days. The water level of rivers all highly increased. Many provinces were heavily waterlogged, leading to disruption to traffic and losses of properties and humans. Major transport routes from Hanoi to provinces such as Cao Bang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh… were disrupted by rains, floods. Continuous rains for many days made traffic roads difficult to get over. In order to drive vehicles pass these roads safely, drivers must have long time experience, clever maneuvers and prediction.
There is an old saying that “You should follow the water”. Therefore, when facing flooded roads, you should follow vehicles in the front. When it is dark, drivers need to check the water level of flooded roads before making decisions to get over it.

It is also worth checking where the air intake is on your engine. If water or sucked into the engine it will stall, but worse than this, it can cause severe damage that will require the engine to be stripped down in order to bring it back to life. Do not try to start an engine that has sucked in water- the plugs or injectors should first be removed to allow the water to be expelled.
Drive slowly to avoid creating a large wave. Slipping the clutch the engine will also help to keep the exhaust clear and keep the engine running if water splashes onto the electrics. In an automatic keep your foot on the gas in the lowest held gear and use the brake to control your speed.
If your wheels start to lose grip partway through a flooded section, it could be that the car is trying to float. To counter this, open a door and allow some water into the car, this will weigh down, enabling the tires to grip again. It is probably best to get a passenger to this so that you can continue revving your engine and slipping the clutch.
If your car has been abandoned and has stood in deep water for a long period, it is worth getting a mechanic to look at it before you try and start. Alternatively, id you know a little about engines and have the appropriate tools, remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over to expel any water from cylinders before trying to start the engine again./.
