Vantai24h – 07/11/2015 - Many drivers find the shipping route from Hanoi to Yen Bai difficult and dangerous not only due to twisting terrain but also weather conditions, especially in winter, under fog.
How to drive in fog is necessary skills every drivers should know to guarantee their own safety and optimum efficiency. Transport 24h will share some experience in travelling under fog with drivers, especially young, inexperienced ones.

Equally important as preparing yourself for the journey is preparing your car which should be in a good condition to cope with the distance. It is vitally to check certain things on your car before setting off a long journey….. Moreover, Transport 24h will choose the most suitable drivers for each particular shipping route according to their skills and experience to protect drivers from dangers and maintain the high reputation of the company.
When driving in fog, visibility is low. Not to mention that under deep fog, visibility is reduced to 5-7 meters, even to 2 meters. Therefore, drivers must observe front road carefully. All experienced drivers advise that two vehicles should not overtake each other in thick fog, especially when travelling on hilly roads with narrow and rugged lanes.
When the safety is fulfilled, overtaking manoeuvre must be taken carefully and technically. According to veteran drivers of Transport 24h, time for passing a container should be 15 seconds at the maximum and 10 seconds for a truck. Observe in front to check whether there is any car moving from opposite direction by capturing the lights between vehicles.
In deep fog, the use of fog lights is highly recommended to increase safety. If your vehicle has rear fog light only, it will increase your visibility for other drivers when turned on. Turn on fog lights when visibility is reduced around 100 meters and less. Remember however to turn off your fog lights if the fog is clear. Keeping fog lights on when visibility is clear is hazardous for other drivers. Drivers following behind will be dazzled by the very bright rear fog lights, particularly at night.

Used fog lights on the car to stimulate the efficiency of lights
Nguyen Nhu Quy, a driver of Transport 24h says: “ I am usually dispatched to mountainous regions so driving in fog is inevitable. However, the experience I remember most is when I shipped cargo to Yen Bai. On that day, the winter sky was full of fog and drizzle, making the fog denser. The visibility was only 2 or 3 meters even at 6am. I had to drive very slowly, turn on fog light, follong the painted road line to maintain safety and make it easy to handle unexpected situations. I only used fog lights on the car to stimulate the efficiency of lights. I also drove at low speed and control by the car clock to prevent the danger.”
Every transport route is always lurked around with its own difficulties so all drivers of Transports 24h are also teachers and students. Through real practice, they will learn and equip themselves with experience and skills they can share with their colleagues. They will always work closely with Transport 24h to create values in every shipping trip from Hanoi to other cities and provinces around Vietnam.
